NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and following recent discussion about two top teams as possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the amount of infractions both committed. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter versus Denver, who play overseas this Sunday.

But it proved positive to observe that Denver's QB the rookie was able to have that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.

Denver have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra pass rushers instead they might position two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

Early on of the season, it was noted on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

New tight end Evan Engram has stepped up significantly and recent RB their rusher is a player the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

I love that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He boasts exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.

His strengths include his mobility, being able to throw on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got great poise in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the defence to be on the field for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to defend the area downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has bitten back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this path.

They excel at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.

It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
