Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved TV shows such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per reports.
"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.
Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
